Bursting with fresh blueberries, these muffins are light, tender, and simple to make!
I love me a good muffin. I mean, who doesn’t love a fresh baked muffin? Especially one that's filled with fresh, juicy blueberries. For starters, the smell of muffins baking in the house is intoxicating. And then biting into one of these muffins, fresh from the oven, is just heaven. I love using fresh blueberries as often as I can, especially locally grown, but frozen will do the job as well.

Happy Saturday! It's been a long week and I am thrilled that the weekend is finally here. I had a crazy week at work, then my laptop decided to die on me. It's been in the shop for a few days and I finally got it back last night, but unfortunately that meant I missed a few days of brunch week. I'm so bummed I didn't get a chance to share a couple of my favorite recipes with you, but I'm very excited to end the week with this amazing Strawberry Bread Pudding! A twist on traditional bread pudding, it's full of fresh strawberries and strawberry preserves, making it the perfect dish for breakfast or brunch.

Christmas is right around the corner and I'm behind, as always. Every year I say I'm going to get a jump on my Christmas shopping early, but it never fails that my kids don't give me their lists until last minute. Why do they like to do that? I know..because they're boys! They never know what to ask for which makes it a little harder to start early. Luckily they're handsome! Does the same thing happen in your family?

One thing I've got going for me is my Christmas day menu. Every year we celebrate with my parents at our house so I can get a head start on my planning as early as I want to. These warm and decadent Salted Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls are going to be the star of our Christmas morning breakfast and I can't wait!

The holidays are quickly approaching whether we are ready or not. This year truly has seemed to fly by and it feels like it was just summer! Nonetheless, I've been in the kitchen recipe testing and starting to plan my menus. One of my favorite parts about Christmas is my parents coming over early in the morning and spending the entire day with us. We take our time opening presents while enjoying coffee and hot chocolate, then sit down to a breakfast feast. Overnight casseroles, breads, and things like baked french toast or pancakes are favorites around here. This Cinnamon Cranberry Pull Apart Loaf featuring Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing is not only delicious, but it's easy to make and can feed the whole family!

Scones are one of my absolute favorite things to serve with coffee or tea. They are perfect for breakfast, brunch, and especially when you need a little afternoon pick me up. When you add espresso powder and coffee extract to the scone dough, and more coffee extract into a mouthwatering glaze to drizzle over the top, they are transformed into the most decadent treat that no one can resist! And seriously, who doesn't love to eat and drink their coffee?

I'm gonna be honest here, coffee cake is my weakness. I would make one every few days if I could, but I don't because I know I'll devour it all by myself. Coffee cakes are one of those things that are good for breakfast, brunch, an afternoon snack, and even dessert. I can eat coffee cake all. the. time. See the problem here? I need to learn to control myself better. But since Mother's Day is this weekend, and since I really want to spoil my mom, I'm making myself this Cherry Almond Coffee Cake. I mean, her. I'm making her this coffee cake. Sorry about that.

Hello friends! It's day two of #BrunchWeek and I'm so excited to share with you this Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal Bake! Oatmeal bakes are my new best friend. They are so easy to make and also very customizable. You can swap out the fruits and spices with some of your favorites if you like. The combination of cinnamon and apples reminds me of my childhood, when I used to eat the little packets of instant oats for breakfast. My kids loved those too when they were little. {Actually, Evan still does!} This dish is perfect for breakfast or brunch as it feeds a crowd. Don't worry though, if you decide to make it for just your family and have leftovers, it's equally delicious warmed up!

I absolutely adore blueberries. Do you love blueberries? I hope so, because I've got a few new blueberry recipes up my sleeve that I'll be sharing with you over the next couple of weeks! I'm a sucker for those blue and purple gems. So soft and sweet, and perfect to eat in so many ways. My friends at Wish Farms sent me over some of their fresh blueberries and I've been having way too much fun baking up some yummy treats. Plus, I've been eating them by the handful. I can't help myself, they're just too good!

I don't know how the weather is in your part of the world, but the last week or so has been absolutely beautiful here in Michigan. We've finally been getting lots of sun and warmer temperatures, and by warm I mean in the 60's. Which is warm for us Michiganders. 😎 I've been watching my cherry blossom tree go from tiny little buds to full on bloom in just a matter of days, and the trees and other bushes are blooming with new leaves, too. This my favorite part of spring!

I absolutely love fresh strawberries. Whether I'm eating them by the handful, as a topping for my yogurt, or buzzed into a smoothie, there is nothing better than the taste of those fresh berries. Lucky for us, it's Florida Strawberry Season! Florida Strawberry season runs from November to April. The unique growing conditions during the Florida winter results in the sweetest, juiciest strawberries. Did you know that one cup of whole strawberries has just 46 calories? Plus they are full of vitamin C! They make the best snack any time or day of the year. Even though I live in Michigan, I can enjoy fresh Florida strawberries throughout the entire winter. If you're lucky enough to live in Florida, you and your family can enjoy a day in the strawberry fields at a U-Pick farm! Find locations and helpful tips here

Happy March 1st! That feels really weird to say...because how can it be March already? I swear we were just celebrating the New Year! Well the good thing about it being March is that Spring is right around the corner. We've had a pretty mild winter here in Michigan, so I can't complain, but I'm definitely looking forward to warmer temperatures and seeing the sunshine a little more often. I don't like these dark, gray days!

We all have experienced that busy morning rush - getting everyone up, dressed, ready to go and out the door. Sometimes it's a flustered start to the day, other times things go smoothly and you do a happy dance. No matter what kind of morning you're having, breakfast is an important part of it. Both for adults and children alike!

Growing up my mom used to buy these delicious little turnovers from the store for a special treat on the weekends. She served them for breakfast and I remember how excited I would get when I knew we were having them. Sometimes they were cherry filled, other times they were apple. No matter what the variety, they were always delicious!

It wasn't until I grew up and started baking that I realized I could make these delicious treats at home. Of course you can make your own homemade dough, but I love using Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry Sheets. They are perfect for so many things, like Chicken Pot Pie with Puff Pastry Crust, or this Gruyere & Campari Tomato Tart. But I especially love using them in sweet recipes.

Although it's just the beginning of October, the holidays will  be here before we know it. Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just speaking the truth! You know how they always creep up on us quickly and one day you wake up and realize it's already November and you think, how did that happen? That's how I feel about this whole year. It seems like just yesterday we started 2016. It seems like summer just started. And here we are, already at October.

I'm already thinking ahead to the holidays and the food I will be cooking. I'm getting my side dishes planned and of course focusing on desserts. You know those are my favorite! My family has had a tradition ever since my boys were little that my parents spend the night with us on Christmas Eve. We go to mass on Christmas Eve then come home and have a huge spread of appetizers as our dinner. It's so much fun! On Christmas morning we wake up and immediately start opening gifts but we like to take turns opening them, one by one, so that it lasts longer and we can really treasure everything we receive. Of course when we are done we are all starved and ready for breakfast, so I like to have everything planned out ahead of time so it doesn't take too long.

German Apple Pancake #SundaySupper

This German Apple Pancake, also known as a Apfelpfannkuchen, is made from a simple batter that is poured over caramelized apples and baked until it's puffed up and airy. It makes a fun breakfast or brunch for the whole family!

Guten Tag! {That means good day in German!} I'm really excited to be celebrating Oktoberfest with my #SundaySupper family today. Being of German heritage, I loved learning all about Oktoberfest and how it came about. Oktoberfest is the world's largest beer festival and is held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It's a 16- to 18-day folk festival running from mid or late September to the first weekend in October, with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year.  The Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since 1810. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations that are modeled after the original Munich event.

Simple Glazed Orange Bundt Cake

This Simple Glazed Orange Bundt Cake is full of delicious citrus flavor and is perfect for
dessert, afternoon tea, and even breakfast!
Simple Glazed Orange Bundt Cake | The Chef Next Door

There's just something amazing about citrus flavors in the summer. As much as I love berries, I have an equal amount of love for citrus fruits. Oranges, lemons and limes make me think of sunshiny days and being outdoors. Taking a bite out of an orange or drinking a glass of freshly squeezed lemonade just makes me smile and my heart happy. Do you know what I mean?

One of my favorite ways to use citrus is in baked goods. There are so many things you can make and although I tend to see a lot of lemon desserts, orange desserts are just as delicious. Take this Simple Glazed Orange Bundt Cake for example. This cake gets its wonderful orange flavor from Indian River Select® Brand Orange Juice, fresh orange zest, and orange extract. Plus there's a simple orange glaze that's drizzled  over the cake after cooling. One bite of this cake and you'll be all smiles!

Red Currant Cream Scones

These sweet and tender Red Currant Cream Scones are perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea!
Red Currant Cream Scones | The Chef Next Door

Although it's been ungodly hot here the last few weeks, this is my favorite time of the year to bake. Gorgeous fresh fruits are plentiful at farmers markets and stores, and I just simply can't get enough of them. Whether I'm eating a bowl of berries for breakfast, juicy watermelon as a snack, or baking my favorite dessert, fruits can be enjoyed in many different ways.

One of my favorite things to bake are scones. You can enjoy them for breakfast, brunch, or even an as afternoon snack with a cup of tea or coffee. I love that you can do so much with scones - sweet and savory, filled with dried fruit or fresh fruit, simple or fancy. No matter how they're made, you better bet I will eat them!
