You all know I'm a big fan of all things Italian. The food, the country, the language, the music, the people...visiting Italy is #1 on my bucket list.
I could probably survive solely on Italian food. I'm a huge carbaholic, I mean pastaholic. Same thing I guess. I also really, really love Italian desserts.
From cannoli, to tiramisu to these zeppole, everything is just too darn tasty. Zeppole are delicious little pillows of dough, fried and tossed in cinnamon sugar. My kids and I had these for dessert at Olive Garden a few years back, and I've been hooked ever since.
Making them at home is actually very simple. The hardest part if waiting for them to cool so you can eat them! Dunk your zeppole in some warm chocolate hazelnut spread and that my friends, is heaven.
Do you remember those delicious Cheddar Garlic Biscuits from Red Lobster? You know, those fresh, hot, buttery garlic biscuits that they bring to your table before your meal? Yeah, I figured you'd remember them. I swear I could go there and strictly eat a salad and a basket of those biscuits. Pretty sure my kids would agree too.
Since it is restaurant remake month, I decided to try my hand at making these myself. I have to admit, I am REALLY proud of myself! These biscuits turned out beautifully! And they seriously taste JUST like the ones from the restaurant. Even my kids loved them! So much so that I think E ate like 4. Or maybe 5. I lost count.
Anyway, if you've got a thing for cheesy garlicky biscuits, you need to try these out!
Have you tried the yummy iced lemon pound cake from Starbucks? That delicious bright yellow cake with the thick layer of icing on the top? Yeah, I love that stuff. It is way too good.
Keeping with the monthly theme of restaurant recreations, I decided to give that luscious bread a makeover. Using white whole wheat flour and sweet Meyer lemons, the cake came out moist and tender and very lemony. Perfect with my favorite latte that I make at home.
Save yourself a few dollars, and a handful of calories, by trying my delicious Iced Meyer Lemon Pound Cake for yourself!
Looking for a game day appetizer that isn't heavy and filled with calories, but still tastes good? Look no further, I've gotcha covered!
This "skinny" Spinach and Artichoke Dip is my take on our favorite Applebee's appetizer. I love the dip from the restaurant, but it's packed with fat and calories and a ton of sodium.
For my version, we replace the cream cheese with beans. Yes, you heard me right. Beans. They are light and creamy and go perfectly in this dip.
This was a hit around my house. Perfect with crackers, tortilla chips or even pita bread. Give it a try. I think you'll be surprised just how tasty it is!
All month long our Blogger Recipe Challenge group is recreating our favorite restaurant dishes. These can be from chain restaurants, or even from our favorite local destinations. I plan to share recipes from both, as we have some great food around town.
My intent is to not only recreate the recipe, but to also make it healthier if possible. The Petite Vanilla Bean Scones from Starbucks are definitely a favorite of mine. Whenever I stop at Starbucks for coffee, I either get a scone or their delicious Lemon Pound Cake (which I will be remaking later!) So I decided to recreate the scone recipe at home.
The scones turned out perfectly. Nice and tender on the inside with a little crunch on the edges. I dipped the scones in a vanilla bean glaze that was a perfect compliment, but not too sweet.
