S'Mores Cake

S'Mores Cake

Last week my baby boy, my first born, turned 17. SEVENTEEN!! How can that be? It seems like just yesterday I was sending him off to Kindergarten. A couple of weeks ago he started his senior year....

SENIOR YEAR! **gulp**

For the next nine months you can find me in the corner of my bedroom curled up in the fetal position. It's unimaginable to think that next year at this time he will be starting college. What will I do without him??

Anyway, let's not think about that just yet. Or I will start crying uncontrollably and never get this post written. And I know you want to hear about this cake.

So my eldest takes after his mama....he has a sweet tooth and loves eating all of his mama's baked goods. For his birthday I wanted to make him a special cake, and I wanted it to be a surprise.

At the start of the year Food Network Magazine had a feature about cakes. A different cake for every month of the year! It just so happened that this s'mores cake was the August special. And I knew it was just the right cake for my baby boy.

Now because this recipe came straight out of the magazine, I'm not going to share it on my blog. But wait, hold up, don't get mad at me! You can find the recipe, in it's entirety, here on the Food Network site.

You start with their basic chocolate cake recipe, then add all the ooey gooey goodness to make it all s'mores like. Marshmallow fluff, toasted graham crackers, chocolate ganache...MMM....

This cake is absolutely divine. The kids raved about it and my whole family loved it. I will definitely be making it again for another special occasion.

My next task is to find something special for my youngest sons birthday in October. And this son is picky...

Bon Appetit!
