Dulce de Leche Rice Krispie Treats

Dulce de Leche Rice Krispie Treats

I love rice krispie treats, don't you? The funny thing is I don't really make them very often. I don't know why, but I just don't.

Last week I made some fabulous dulce de leche chocolate banana muffins and had about half a can of dulce de leche left over. I spooned it over ice cream a few times but kept thinking about what else I could do with it.

Then it hit me.

Like a ton of bricks.

Let's throw that dulce de leche into rice krispie treats. What a genius idea! Well maybe not genius, but it sounded pretty darn good to me. I mean it's not rocket science, but I'm easily excited.

So I made these dulce de leche rice krispie treats.  And then I jumped for joy. So delicious! You must try them soon.

Dulce de Leche Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients:
2 Tbsp unsalted butter
10 oz. bag of marshmallows
1/4 cup dulce de leche
3 cups Rice Krispies

In a large pot melt the butter and marshmallows together until smooth.

Remove from the heat and stir in the dulce de leche.

Pour the cereal in and stir until the cereal is completely coated with the marshmallow mixture.

Pour the mixture into a buttered 8×8 pan and press the mixture down, with buttered fingers, to even out the top.

Let cool completely, then cut into squares.

Bon Appetit!
