I don't know about you, but I'm having a really hard time believing that summer is almost over and school is right around the corner. My sons go back to school in less than two weeks...how is that possible? Isn't it still June? *insert BIG sigh here*

It seems like summer just started, and here we are printing school schedules, buying supplies, and getting wardrobes figured out. I am so not ready for this! Of course with all of this comes the task of packing lunches. My youngest son is still in high school and tries really hard to eat healthy most of the time. {Which means he doesn't want to eat cafeteria food every day!} I aim to pack his lunch at least three times a week, and I'm always trying to change things up for him so he doesn't get bored.

It just so happens that this year I’m partnering with Produce for Kids in their Power Your Lunchbox campaign. The campaign encourages you to pack fresh school lunches for your family. Head to their website to take the pledge to pack a healthier lunchbox and start the school year off right with tips, lunchbox ideas and coupons. Plus, you could win an iPad and iPad mini to help in recipe planning, just by taking the pledge! Each pledge means $1 will be donated by their partners to Feeding America® food banks.

This years' partners are GROW Bananas, Marie’s Dressings, Crispy Green and Pero Family Farms, with additional support by Bentology.

I created a simple yet tasty sandwich wrap, perfect for lunchboxes of any age. It starts with a whole wheat wrap, then gets topped with crispy lettuce, thin slices of turkey, carrots, and shredded cheese, with a final touch of Marie's Creamy Ranch drizzled down the middle.

Roll it up tight, cut the wrap in half or quarters, and lunch is served!

I served the wrap with veggies and a side of creamy ranch, grapes, and some cheese crackers. Any combination of your kids favorite fruits and veggies will do here.

What are some of your favorite lunch ideas?

Now, let's get to this simple wrap recipe!

Whole Wheat Creamy Ranch Turkey Wrap
Author: Sarah Bates | The Chef Next Door
Serves 1

Ingredients:
1 large whole wheat tortilla
1 Romaine lettuce leaf
3 slices deli turkey
Matchstick carrots
Shredded cheddar cheese

Place the tortilla flat on a cutting board or other flat surface. Lay the romaine on one side of the tortilla, then layer the turkey slices across the lettuce. Sprinkle some carrots and cheese over the turkey. Drizzle the dressing over the top.

Starting from the bottom of the tortilla where the filling is, roll it upwards tightly. Cut the wrap in half, then cut each half in half again, leaving you with four pieces. Place in a lunchbox or plastic bag and seal.

Bon Appetit!

  1. The greatest method to save time while doing your coursework is to get a paper from reputable writing services. I recently discovered http://royalwriter.co.uk/ a wonderful website where I can get any kind of paper. I repeatedly applied to them, and each time I was given a flawless paper at a fair cost.
