Instead of using the canned version, take a few minutes and make it from scratch. I promise you won't regret it. Using fresh ingredients is so much better for you and your family. Forget about all those preservatives and extra additives!
With just a couple of steps, this is a super easy weeknight meal to put together. Try it and let me know how your family likes it! My kids love it and I will never go back to buying a can again.
Sloppy Joes
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp canola oil
½ cup chopped onion
½ red bell pepper, finely chopped
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup tomato sauce
2 tsp Worcestershire
1 tsp chili powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
Sandwich buns
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and pepper and cook until soft, about 6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon into small pieces. Add the tomato sauce, Worcestershire, chili powder, salt and pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 10 minutes.
Serve your sloppy joes on your favorite sandwich bun.
Bon Appetit!
Looks good! I used to make it homemade and then my kids starting not liking it and liking the canned version better. Will try again soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lois! I really like this version.
ReplyDeleteI have a very simple recipe similar to this one. We love it. Simple is almost always better.
