Growing up my mom used to buy me frozen French bread pizzas as a treat. You know the ones I'm talking about, right? I've even bought them for my own kids from time to time. Please tell me I'm not alone! They make a quick and easy meal when you're short on time and they're delicious. Not too long ago though, I realized that making homemade French bread pizza is SO much better than buying ones from the store. They couldn't be easier to make, can be ready in just about 15 minutes, and bake on one sheet pan! It's the perfect weeknight meal for the family.

I love making these pizzas but Supreme French Bread Pizzas are definitely my favorite. Topped with pepperoni, sweet bell peppers, mushrooms and olives, and smothered in mozzarella cheese, they are the ultimate comfort food. I love serving them with a side salad, so I know the kids are getting lots of veggies in!

Although I loaded my pizzas up with veggies, you can have the kids build their own if there are certain toppings they don't like. I like to set the toppings out in little bowls and let the kids have at it. It's true that kids love to eat what they make themselves!

Serves 4

Ingredients:
1 loaf French Bread
1 cup pizza sauce
12 slices mozzarella cheese
Toppings - pepperoni, diced red bell pepper, black olives and sliced mushrooms
Red pepper flakes, if desired

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Slice the bread loaf in half lengthwise, then crosswise, so that you end up with four pieces. Place the bread on a large baking sheet.

Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the bread pieces. Add desired toppings, then top each one with three slices of the cheese, slightly overlapping.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and starting to brown on top. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes, if desired.

Bon Appétit!
