St. Louis Trip

St. Louis Trip

This week I was back on the road again for work, this time to St. Louis. In fact I'm sitting in the St. Louis Airport as I type this, waiting to head back home. I've been here before, but it's been a long time. I came here as a child for a family vacation. My time here the last couple of days was short, but some friends and I managed to squeeze in a trip to the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. Let me just tell you, it was quite possibly one of the most fun things I've done.

For all those that know me well, you know I don't even really like beer. I forced myself to drink it in college because that's all most frat parties served. I had to fit in you know. Ha! But over the years I've went back and tried it a few times and never could get into it. But a brewery tour sounded too fun to pass up. And on top of that, we went to Beer School.

We started off with a guided tour around the facilities that lasted about an hour. It really was quite interesting and I learned a lot. I took some pictures to document the visit as well.

I loved this Clydesdale horse. She was so beautiful! I wanted to pet her but petting the animals is a no no.

Home of Budweiser!

I seriously felt like I was in an episode of Laverne and Shirley here. If you ever watched the show you know what I mean. This was the bottling and labeling department. So very cool to watch all the beers flying by on the conveyor belts!

Here I am with my beautiful friends, Margaret, Michael and Whitney.

So after the basic tour we made our way back and bought our tickets for Beer School. We were the only four students in this class and boy did we have a blast. We learned all about the different ingredients in beer, which ones go in which types of beer, the differences between dark and light beers, and had a tasting of five different kinds. We had the original Budweiser, Shock Top Belgian White, Shock Top Lemon Shandy, something dark (I can't remember the name!), and Wild Blue Lager. I tasted each one like a good girl and gave my feedback. Not a big fan of the Bud or the dark beer, I liked the Belgian White, really liked the Lemon Shandy, and totally fell in love with Wild Blue. Do you see a pattern here? Yes, I like sweet drinks. I drank my whole glass of Wild Blue, along with a couple of my friends glasses too. I think I will buy some when I get home.

See how pretty it is?

We completed the class and received a nice certificate stating that we are now Honorary Beermasters. We even got a beautiful Budweiser bottle opener to take home too!

After the class we headed back to the main building where we picked up our two free "samples." I emphasize samples because it was 12 oz. of beer. That is not a sample to me. But hey, I took it! I got myself more of that wonderful Wild Blue and sat back and relaxed with my friends.

All in all we had a wonderful day and had a lot of fun. If you are ever in St. Louis, make sure you stop by the brewery, take a tour, and learn how to be a true Beermaster.

Over and out,
Sarah Blue

  1. Very fun! I've only been in St Louis once, and we were just passing through with the kids....so the brewery wasnt on our todo list. We will have to try it next time.
